Laura Mercier Artist's Palette for Eyes (2015 edition)

I freely admit that I'm a makeup addict, and eyeshadow palettes are my drug of choice.  There's something about pretty, shimmery shades promising a smooth, buttery texture that gets me every time  And when I see "limited edition" in a palette's title, I start to get heart palpitations and lose the ability to think rationally.  So when I heard that Laura Mercier was re-releasing this baby from the holiday 2013 collection, the decision to purchase was nearly instantaneous.  After all, Temptalia gave it an "A," and I generally take her word as gospel.

The image above is from Sephora's current listing and appears identical to the 2013 version of the palette.  The palette I received today, however, looks like this:

The shade selection is the same as the 2013 palette, but the pebbly texture of the 2013 palette is replaced by this floral design.  I have to say that I much prefer the elegant simplicity of the original design.  Something about the packaging of the 2015 palette feels a bit cheap, which is especially frustrating considering it's now $7 more expensive!

Hopefully the performance of the shadows will compensate for the change in packaging!

The palette is currently available at Sephora for $55.
